Re: Puerto Rican Food
Anonymous asked: what are some puerto rican foods you’d make EVERYONE try if you could?
It might kill someone, but definitely an alcapurria. It’s basically a plantain masa filled with your choice of meat. I like the crab ones the most, but they’re all good. Just be careful where you buy them if you ever go to Puerto Rico, some vendors don’t change their cooking oil for months… LOL
One of my most favorite things to eat in Puerto Rico is a tripleta, which is just a three meat sandwich. If made properly and under a press it can honestly knock you out for the rest of the day. There is truly nothing better than eating a good meal and then sleeping half the day away on a hot island.
Also all meals should have platanos maduros. They’re super sweet and make for very delicious sides! If you prefer soup, plantain soup is extremely hardy and savory (depending on how you cook a plantain it can be either sweet or savory/starchy- like a potato.) Plantain soup is great with bread, it really warms you up!
…
My mom is a fan of morcilla (blood sausage) but I wouldn’t personally dare touch that with a ten-foot pole. On a final note, try malta out sometime? It’s super strong and unlike most drinks out there but it will punch you in the face and it’s a bit of an experience.
Oh! And Parcha Ice Cream (Passion Fruit?) is super delicious on a hot day. You’ll always find vendors nearby on the streets. They’re usually really nice old men who sell three flavors of ice cream. (It’s always the same three flavors. Always.)

I went power walking with my dad today to the rainforest. It rained and it was also kind of cold! (That rain water, oh my god. Freezing.)

I’ve never worn a traditional dress from Puerto Rico because I can not dance to save my life.
That being said, it’s a pretty cool dress.
