sweetappletea asked: Hey was that contest the one where when you're watching a cartoon or something and if you see like a bulldozer dump some toys over the cartoon that you're supposed to call a phone number? For Cartoon Network because I remember wanting to enter but I wasn't old enough to use the phone I don't think.
It was the Thanksgiving Day Parade Contest!
They had the option for you to send in a postcard. I was watching Garfield one day and saw the Parade go by the show, rushed to write on one of my mom’s postcards and sent it off. Apparently my name got smudged though because originally they posted (on national television) that my name was Angelica Lopezo. (which sounds cool, I can’t lie)
My brother ran downstairs to tell met his but I didn’t believe him because my brother is a big brother and we all know those aren’t to be trusted. Eventually my mom was home one day and freaked out when a giant truck came by while I was at school. I really hope they had a Spanish Translator or else they would have gotten no where fast.
I have pictures (somewhere) of myself with all of the presents but eventually we just donated them all b/c my dad was in the military so we were planning on moving back to Puerto Rico. :’) I lived in Miami for a few years and somehow won the contest while living there! It was pretty gnarly.

Aw wow donating them was really nice!! As a kid and I had to move I would have probably INSISTED that I had to bring them all with me hahaha. I used to try those CN contests here in our area but the most I got was a consolation prize of stickers :))

You donated them all? Even though I know I would have done the same thing now, as a kid I can’t imagine being as happy about it (then again as a kid I sometimes was on the other end of those donations). Still, it was a kind gesture! :D
